Institute of Agro-product Processing Technology (IAPT), founded in March 2012, is a high-end science and technology achievement transformation institute authorized by Sichuan University, which falls under the direct supervision of Food Department of Sichuan University. The institute takes subsidiary agricultural products and food as the breakthrough and works on basic research of agro-product resources, tackling with problems in deep-processing key technologies, as well as the integration and promotion of agro-product industrialization technology. It is the first professional institute in southwest which targets on exploitation of agro-product resources.
Furthermore, the institute has integrated superior resources related to food disciplines from College of Light Industry, Textile and Food Engineering, West China School of Public Health, and College of Life Science of Sichuan University, etc, which aims to make the best use of Sichuan University’s professional talents and research environment. On the basis of cultivating high-level talents, the institute is committed to enhancing the ability and level of scientific research and technological innovation in food science, and contributes to promoting the technological progress of agro-product industrialization and the rapid development in local agriculture and food industry.
Since the establishmentof the institute, it has undertaken many scientific research tasks of government departments such as the Green Manufacturing Project of MIIT(Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China), the Science and Technology Support Program of Sichuan Province, the Industry Chain Project of Sichuan Science and Technology Department, the Industrial Cluster Project of Chengdu. Meanwhile, one-stop technology and consulting services have been provided for hundreds of agro-product and food manufacturing enterprises inside and outside the province, for instance, development of technology and product, transformation of scientific and technological achievement, construction of intellectual property system, qualification management, standard-setting, etc. Until now, the institute has completed the projects of technology and product development more than 50 and applied for national invention patents more than 30 as well as more than 20 provincial-level scientific and technological achievements.
